illness and thesis year
This is Day 16 of feeling ill. I tried to forge ahead in the studio, because that's what strong, dedicated people do, yes? No, that's what people who are sick for 16 straight days do. So after a weekend NyQuil coma, I plan on getting a fresh start in the morning at 8am.
I've got the under-drawing of For Sophia placed, and another scene canvas ready. My to-do list has grown, but I think I have til late March for my thesis exhibit?
Over Thanksgiving Break, I'm going to spend time with family --as I know that I have to move further away from everyone come July. I've got Draper in the back of my head, "Get out of here and move forward." And aside from that, I need to study Winesburg, Ohio. The retired English teacher told me that she had a strong feel for the characters but not for their connections with each other. So studying how Anderson does this should help. And I'll be compiling a list of potential schools to apply to along with the materials they all ask for.
My thesis paper, reviewed by Kristin and Maizels so far, needs a second draft working out:
1) a lot of first person, try to make it read like a document I want to present to the art world and not my thesis committee
2) more explicit theoretical model of narrative? Barthes' "intro to the structuralist analysis of narratives"
3) writing center?
Then,
-wallpaper diptych
-larger For Walter painting
Scene Paintings:
-94 skylark buick
-beagle
-sticky note
-lemon drop freshener
-door to room 208
-Walter's living room
-red sweatshirt, men's size medium
On paper:
-card from mom
-creatures for henry
-theo's furniture designs
Study:
-more painted areas
-brackets between floor, smaller screws
-tall lamp
Revise For Wintonbury
Put together book, ID
and some other detail items...4 months.
