verbal vs. visual


+ After deeply pondering about borders of abstraction and representative painting and role of narrative, suddenly I found myself depicting a historical-political poem on a very large canvas
I usually think a lot about my roots, my culture and I try to find the relationship of my art-habits with my culture. Since I believe that culture cultivated something in us which shows itself in entire of our life, specifically in art, both in process of making it and in the result.

+ Base of our culture and art is founded on literature, verbal and linguistic things. Even our visual art stuff has been produced as a supplement of literature: they are the illustration of story or poems and they only exist in books.

+ ask hard questions of yourself. answering them, you might need to sacrifice things which are hard to lose. + art production sometimes is just a labor. you work hard and think that it should be improved with practice. practice makes perfect. but, THINK more, do less sometimes is the answer. + you think that you think a lot. but the reality is that you are only an over-thinker. over-thinking means labor-thinking. no efficient result. a frustrating process. an obstacle. a hinder which prevents you from moving. + listen. think. learn. but simultaneously act. do them. do what you learned and what you heard. + trust your emotions. it is another motive existed in you. sometimes do something based on your emotion. + break the habits. forget. start.

What To Do With A Fancy Pencil

As I have critiques and studio visits most people I talk to can get on board with the idea of making a really nice pencil and the idea of it eventually being consumed, however the parameters surrounding the process of consumption seem to be where there is the most uncertainty/input so here is a list of options I can think of, and I welcome more suggestions. break the lead off in the wall mimicking another piece I'm working on give it to my eldest son to use at school and sharpen down (likelihood of it being lost in the first week is very high) make a drawing with it, though it is not a drawing pencil. shade a pedestal with it. play that game where you put your hand on a table and stab between each finger. rent it out for use. give it to Dylan to pin his hair with (though it doesn't necessarily get consumed that way) cover it with chicken grease and leave it out for a raccoon to chew on. use it to learn to write with my toes.  just use it like a normal pencil.  eat...
