Anthony... Preparing for midterm

I've been finishing and refining my work and statement. I have finished some ceramic objects which are glazed black to mimic the plastic surface. Included below is an example of the objects with the plastic:

I find the seductive and shiny surface of the plastic to be a provocative contradiction to the cheapness of the material, which reminds of me of the idea of the "pathetic-ness" in their limp and rough texture (as Dylan likes to put it.) I also like to see how the bags act like strange, puffy, three-dimensional shadows to the ceramic objects.
I have done some more research into the still life and someone recommended that I look into vanitas. I am wondering if there is a relationship with the permanence of the material (in a sense of degradation) within ceramics and plastic and the vanitas; they both can last a long time within the environment and can act as testaments to periods within history, which to me allude to notions of decay and the inevitability of this decay that are common themes in vanitas.
